Three takeaways from LSU baseball's Sunday win over Tennessee

· Yahoo Sports

LSU baseball entered Sunday with a chance to win back-to-back SEC series, this one on the road at Tennessee. In a surprise, Gavin Fontenot got the start on the mound instead of Gavin Guidry. Pitching wasn't a problem for LSU on Sunday. Between Fontenot, Zac Cowan, and Gavin Guidry, LSU gave up one earned run. Unfortunately, the Vols scored five runs off of LSU errors.

The Tigers had four errors on Sunday. Jake Brown, Stephen Milam, John Pearson, and Zach Yorke were all credited with an error. The error committed by Yorke at the bottom of the third inning led to another error and a grand slam for the Vols. Despite that, LSU was able to fight its way back into the game and tie it up in the top of the ninth inning to send the game to extras. The Tigers forced extra innings, and Cade Arrambide led the Tigers to a win with the best game of his career. Here are three takeaways from the game.

Something has gotta give with Yorke

In the past two games for LSU, Zach Yorke has committed two errors that eventually led to seven runs for Tennessee. He has struggled mightily defensively at first base, and he is not swinging the bat well either. Yorke finished this weekend 0-for-9 at the plate with two strikeouts. He has a .250 batting average this season. That is not going to cut it.

Cade Arrambide legacy game

Cade Arrambide may never have a better ballgame in his career than the one he had today. He single-handedly outscored Tennessee. He finished the game 5-for-6 from the plate with four homers and seven RBI. He was the biggest reason why LSU was able to come back and win this game and the series.

LSU outhit Tennessee

One of the most frustrating aspects of today's loss was that LSU outhit Tennessee 19-5 in this one. Had it not been for the errors LSU had, this game could have been over a lot sooner, as the Tigers were swinging hot bats all day long. This was a great sight to see after watching how the offense has performed recently.
